Hi all,

I have an A1181 Macbook and when I plug it in to charge it says (Not Charging). Then if I unplug the power the Macbook shuts down instantly.

I'm looking at buying a new battery on Ebay but want to know if there is any way of checking to see if my battery is actually not working or if it it another issue.

Thoughts?

Thanks in advance.

Try resetting the SMC.
This should answer most, if not all, of your battery questions:

Unfortunately that did not fix the problem.

Does that mean my battery is broken and I should buy a new one on ebay?

The battery may, indeed, be dead, but I wouldn't trust or recommend any battery that didn't come from Apple.

I am using battery not from Apple and everything is working fine. It's just that the white color is a little darker than the computer.
