HOw? For starters you get the full headers of the email. Seeing where it actually came from.
 
Reroutes to IP 203.154.22.170 which hosts a Thai CAD company. I'd guess they've got a a worm- or spyware- 'jacked box on their end. Or the CAD site is spoofed also to deflect investigation.

Either way, nothing you can do about it until these rogue nations clean their acts up.
 
On one of those news shows – 20/20 or Dateline, I forget which one, the reporters set out to find a spammer who sent a spam email to a young girl.

It really was a long journey to find him, visiting different internet companies and not getting anywhere. Finally they found the guy; he was making a living off of sending out bulk emails and they asked him to apologize to the girl. I think that the whole process took several weeks.

I don't remember how they finally found the guy.
Did anyone else see that show? I think it aired last summer.
