How do I transfer music purchased on iPad to my MBP?

Can someone tell me how I can transfer the songs I've purchased with my iPad on iTunes and I want to get those songs into my iTunes library on my MBP. I thought I could connect the iPad to the MBP and just drag and drop them but that doesn't work. Thanks in advance.

Right click on the iPad in itunes and hit transfer purchases.

Awesome...that was too easy. Two additional questions:
1. Can I do the same thing to transfer music from my iPod to my MBP?
2. Isn't iCloud supposed to do this automatically...basically, keep all purchases made on one device in sync with all my other Apple devices?

As long as you have that option turned on with both your iDevice and iTunes on your MBP, yes.

AS mentioned if you have the option checked then it will auto download to your MBP. Also in itunes there should be a tab to show purchased items. Not sure where because I am at work so can't give you exact detail.
