Okay we have an older iMac in our living room. My kids love playing minecraft on their ipads and yes we do go into the servers that are monitored and whitelisted out there. But what I want to do is set up my own control server and allow kids to come to play at our house with our kids on this server. I am sorry if this question has already been posted out there. Can some one walk me through this process? Thanks!

I have a Minecraft server myself. I personally run mine from bootcamp on Windows, but I can do it on the mac side also.

Few Questions to start off.

Do you want a local or online server?

How much ram does your iMac have?

What year is your iMac?

I would like to do an online. More than anything I want kids to come to our house and play...but...I also want that if they cannot make it then they can play at their house.

I have a 20" early 2008 iMac
2.66 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo Processor
Memory is 6BG 800 MHz DDR2 SD RAM

If I need to then I can buy faster hardware and pretty much I am good at installing that myself with a little guidance.

What year is your iMac? 2008

Thanks!

I know that Xbox has minecraft but we don't have that and most of the kids I know that play minecraft play on their ipads and iphones.
