I need to turn off updates on OS-X of selected softwares. I apply updates that I find necessary, and in my case, I have iWork '09 that I like and DON'T want to update, but the computer keeps asking me to update. I want to turn off those reminders for iWork. Is it possible? How?

Go to System Preferences → App Store and turn off "Install app updates"

EDIT: I realise you mean you don't want to see the reminders, which this won't do. One thing you could do is install the updates anyway. It will put iWork '09 in a subfolder, so you can still use it.

The update does not remove iWork 09. Let it install the new version and just don't use it.....until Apple fixes all the limitations they put in the apps.

The wife and I continue to use 09 versions.
