How do I unlock a verizon iPhone 4s 5.1.1?

Can someone help me activate my phone? I just got a brand new replacement unit from apple. I do not have a verizon phone number. but I would like to fully activate it.

This would be better read in the Hack section of the iPhone forum.

But if you no longer have a Verizon number, then either go buy an unlocked iPhone or jailbreak it. The steps are way too long for me to post, so Google it. They'll have better written guides than I could ever write.

Just curious. Is this new iPhone from apple a verizon iPhone? If not, then I don't think it will work on the Verizon network. I was reading the apple site last night and if you buy an iPhone without a plan from apple it will only work on GSM networks, not CDMA.

Someone correct me if I am mistaken.
