How do I upgrade from BC 1.4 to BC 2.1?

I installed BC 1.4 when I had Tiger and now I cannot install SP3. I have heard I need to upgrade to BC 2.1 but I am not sure how to do this. I have Leopard installed and want to upgrade but don't want to lose any of my Windows programs.

Is there a way to upgrade Boot Camp but not mess with my installed programs in Windows??
