How do I use the mobile chat?

hello I'm trying to use the mobile chat thing the iphone has on my iPod touch so I can get on aim and MSN but it just says loading or connecting and never logs me on. Any ideas why it is not working? I do have connection I'm on the net right now

The college network blocks aim............

works at home
