Restart the system.

Worst case, you may need to uninstall iTunes then reinstall, if the process won't start.

TEG

I uninstalled itunes 8 like 6 times already no lie. Restart what? My computer? Didn't help.Unplug all my usb cords.....didn't work. Switch cord to a diffent port........didn't work. Download itunes 7......didn't work. I think i tried everything . Boy itunes 8 screwed me big time.

The service has been disabled on the startup so you need to make sure its enabled.

Before you do anything, I need to warn you that you might really screw up your system if you do something wrong so be cautious of what you are enabling/disabling.

Go to start menu> run.
Type in msconfig
Go to the startup tab
make sure the service "AppleMobileDevice"(i think thats the name) is checked
restart the computer

I have also found apple article regarding this issue.
http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1852
In you case, "Verify iPod touch Driver/Service Installation" is the thing you

need to check. But making sure it runs on startup and restarting the computer

will fix it.

Ok I did what u said but I notice that besides apple device it said stoppage. I think that's the problem is that it's not started. I tried to start it but I couldn't bc it wouldn't let me. I can't restart it bc it won't let me. So what should I do ?

Anyone know how to start it? Man why can itunes 8.1 come out already?

Try this approach. Download Revo Uninstaller(its free) from here:
http://www.download.com/Revo-Uninstaller/3000-2096_4-10687648.html?tag=mncol&cdlPid=10854684

Install it and run it. Uninstall Itunes using it and make sure to delete everything it finds associated with Itunes. Especially the registry keys, they are the ones that probably caused this problem. So after completely uninstalling Itunes using the Revo Uninstaller. Download the latest version and install it. This should solve the issue because the installation will create new registry files which will run the service.

Will i lose anything from my library?

Will i lose anything in my library? I just want to make sure b4 i do it.

I doubt you will loose anything from your library. I have not used this program to uninstall ITunes but I guess just to be safe, make sure your itunes library is not on the list of things the program will delete. Or better yet, backup your library either to a different drive or copy it to a different folder.

Ok I tried and yet another epic fail.
