How do I watch avi files...

I've recently learned how to download files from torrent sites. Sometimes when I download an avi file it won't play. How do I get these files to play? I've downloaded Divx and Xvid and wmv files work but just can't get avi files to play. I get a screen saying "this is not a movie file". Help would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

Yep, Flip4Mac and/or VLC. VLC does pretty much everything.

Snow Leopard also plays .avi's natively.

It does? I had to download Parian to get it to play my video files

VLC is all you need. For media, that is.

Another vote for VLC.

I only use VLC and Quicktime after i have downloaded Divx for mac, never ran into a a video i could not view.
