I already tried to download Silverlight and watch it on Safari but that didn't work. I also tried chrome://components and update it but it didn't work either. I also tried reinstalling Google chrome and signing out of my account. That didn't work either. Any advice? Thank you.

What OS are you running? You should be able to run El Capitan which still supports the latest version of chrome.

Mac Os X 10.7
10.7 won’t support any modern browser and I actually think 10.7 is the highest it officially supports. Sorry I thought it could run 10.11. Use dosdude’s tool to create an installer of Sierra for your MacBook and use that. Then you can run current browser versions.

you can also make your MacBook into a chrome book with cloud ready. It’s free. https://www.neverware.com/

2007 MacBook will lose audio with dosdude installs, so that makes netflix mostly unusable, at least with the built-in audio!
(I have had some luck with USB audio adapters, but that's just one more device you have to attach.... )

What is dosdude's tool?
