Hi guys, I just purchased a new iMac yesterday and would like to wipe my old one clean so I can get rid of it.

I purchased it from eBay and it didn't come with any disks at all. I purchased the snow leopard disk to upgrade it about a week after I received the iMac so I do have that disk, but that's all.

So how exactly do I go about wiping this thing then? From what I read, you need to have the original disk or disks that came with the computer?

Start from the SL disc, launch Disk Utility and then do an Erase and install. There are loads of Youtube videos that show how. For example:
