iPod How do "Last Skipped" and "Skip Count" work?

I appreciate anyone's thoughts.

Question #1: Do "Last Skipped" and "Skip Count" work when listening to a song either through your library or iPod, or do they work only when listening through your iPod?
Question #2: How do LS and SC work exactly? For example, are they triggered any time you don't listen to an entire song? If you listen to all but the last five seconds of a song is it considered skipped?

well last skipped just records the date and time the song was last skipped. A skip is recorded if you skip to another song between 2 and 20 seconds of play. Or something close.

ohh: A skip is considered an advance to the next song only.
also: thus a skip only works by hitting the right arrow key on the computer, or the double arrow right on the ipod. Not sure about iphone.
