All iPads How do preorders to ship date arrivals usually go?

I mean how does it go the event is tomorrow, would preorders go live right after and then they'd arrive a a certain date that apple will give? Do you have to pay more for release date arrival (thought I remember it being free)?

If Apple allows pre-orders, they will likely be available at midnight PST on Friday, October 25.

If Apple follows the pattern set with the iPhone 5s and does not allow pre-orders, then online orders will start at midnight PST on the release date (likely Friday, November 1).
