My wife gets a 15% FAN discount and I was wondering how/where that discount it applied on these new ATT Mobile Shared Plans?

it only applies on data and messaging etc but wont apply on the base plan like the rate plan monthly.

Ok, so for the 6GB shared data plan costing $90, we can deduct 15% off of that...correct?

Mine applie on data and base plan but not $10 for line additions. I also have 25% fan. So sick

I emailed AT&T to ask a few weeks ago and here was the response.

Thank you for contacting AT&T about your wireless service. I will be
more than happy to assist you with your inquiry regarding Foundation
Account Number (FAN) discounting on our new Mobile Share plans today.

That is a great question Kyle. It is always smart to ask before making
a change, that way there are no surprises. The FAN discount, 20% in
your case, is applied to the shared data portion of the Mobile Share
plans. For example, if you chose the $70 4GB Mobile share plan, you
would receive unlimited voice calls, unlimited text, and multimedia
messages as well. You would share the 4GB among all four of your lines.
The individual line charges would vary a bit based on the device type,
and which line is the primary line. Here is how this would look:

Line:
Primary Line - 4GB shared data $70 - 20% = $56.
Smartphone line $40. Total $96
Secondary Line - Smartphone $40. Total $40
Secondary Line - Standard phone $30. Total $30
Secondary Line - Smartphone $40. Total $40

Grand total would be $96 + $40 + $30 + $40 = $206 + Taxes.

With these plans, there are no more rollover minutes to try to keep
track of, no overages for voice or text to worry about. If you can get
by with just 1GB of data, you can cut that by $24, which is the
difference with discount between the 4GB and the 1GB plans.

Thank you for allowing me the opportunity to provide you this
information. Should you have additional concerns about this issue,
please feel free to reply to this e-mail. For questions on any other
issue, we encourage you to use our online chat or e-mail features at
your convenience. We truly appreciate your business. I hope you have a
wonderful day!

That above is a racket. Absurd, FAN discount on shared data only?
My non-shared plan gets a FAN discount on everything.

We should ALL be happy the T-Mobile deal did not go through. All the major carriers collude as it is. If T-Mobile was gobbled up it would have been much worse.

It's actually working better for me since the FAN discount on our 700 Family plan of $60 and a discount of 15% for a total of a $9 discount which isn't much.

With the Mobile Share plans we can save

$10.50 on the $70/4gb plan
$13.50 on the $90/6gb plan
$18.00 on the $120/10gb plan

I'm starting to like the Mobile Share plans more since our discount is helping out a lot more than it did when we were on the 700 Family Plan, Unlimited Text, Unlimited Mobile to Mobile, Unlimited Data with a rate of about $160 bucks.

It seems we can get the 10gb plan and pay basically the same thing at $162 but gain TETHERING, UNLIMITED TALK, UNLIMITED TEXT/MMS. My wife and I have NEVER been over 1gb each EVER since the original iPhone came out. So I am very confident we will never get to the 10gb data limit. But it the extra data amount is good if I want to tether my MacBook Pro will on the road.

I'm starting to like these plans. At first I wasn't seeing any advantage but it's looking good now.

Posting info seems accurate.

The above posts seem accurate. Initially, I was given a lot of conflicting info by ATT. The shared data has several major advantages.

1. You can call landlines as part of the unlimited plan. A big plus.
2. ATT site says shared mobile will be needed to use Facetime over 3-4 G.
3. A biggie. We will have 3 phones. Very limited non Wi Fi data usage. If one user has a bigger than average month, say 800 mg on a 1 G plan, probably no overage on the mobile share plan. On the individual plan, there would be an extra $ 40 charge for data, assuming the $ 20, 300 mg plan for each user.

We are still on the family plan with 2 phones. Expect to add a third phone, and will probably go over to shared. Wanted a feature phone for the third phone. But $ 30 for a feature phone hurts. Besides a decent feature phone will be at least $ 100 out of pocket. They really went overboard on $ 30 for a feature phone. Only $ 10 if I don't switch.

Familytalk works a bit different. I get 22%

Main line
550 shared minutes $50 - 22%= $39
Unlimited data $30 - 22%= $23.40

Second line
$9.99
Unlimited data $30 - 22%= 23.40

I like it better because it takes off multiple lines out

I found that my AT&T bill was less with the standalone data plans.

My monthly bill with taxes for 5 iPhones, each with a 2GB Data plan, is about $210 on AT&T with a 15% fan discount. The discount doesn't apply to the $9.99 add-a-phone cost, but it applies to all data plans of $25 or more.

FamilyTalk Nation 700Min with Rollover ($51)
1st iPhone5 with 2GB Data ($21.25)
2nd iPhone5 with 2GB Data ($9.99 + $21.25)
3rd iPhone5 with 2GB Data ($9.99 + $21.25)
4th iPhone5 with 2GB Data ($9.99 + $21.25)
5th iPhone5 with 2GB Data ($9.99 + $21.25)

(Optional: Unlimited messaging and m2m calling on all phones for $30 extra. - no discount)

To those who have FAN Accounts:

There's no such thing as a FAN account that's the same for all companies that have service via AT&T.

Each FAN Account is negotiated by the individual corporations.

The discount amount, and which services it applies to, is subject to the agreement between AT&T and the corporation you work for. The more users, the deeper the discount.

Therefore what applies to some may not apply to you. AT&T has it on record when you call.

Hope this clarifies the issue. :)

Can anyone that actually recieved a bill with Fan discount please confirm that it only applies to the data portion?

I am really tempted to switch. But i do not want to if the discount does not apply to at least the primary line.

With a shared data plan, the FAN discount only applies to the data portion (and not the primary line). ATT does not offer additional discounts to employers on shared data plans.

With traditional non-shared data plans, FAN discounts vary by employer.
