How do watch apps update?

Basically, a few of the apps I downloaded for their os2 compatibility got more updates today. Since I downloaded all of these recently just to test os2 I don't know if they will update on their own once I update the phone app or do I have to remove and re-install the apps to my watch after the phone apps update?
