I would kind of like some proof its backed up before I go restoring my computer. I have it backed up physically but how does iCloud music exactly work???

How do we know our music is backed up in iCloud??

iCloud (or rather, iTunes in the cloud) keeps track of your purchases. Nothing more.
If you have ripped your own CDs into iTunes, then until iTunes Match is live, you will need to make your own backup of all this data.
Like you say, you already have it backed up elsewhere, so whats the problem? As long as you have your iTunes library and music files backed up you will be fine.

I have backed my music up to an external drive but i was just wondering how iTunes in the cloud. When is iTunes Match going live?
It was supposed to be end of October... But didn't make the date. So a few weeks I think.
