How Do We Known 3G or 3GS

Currently apple no longer selling iphone 3G white Color in apple.com

8 GB = black

3GS

16/32 GB black and white

So if we buy iphone 3GS and they ship it 3G 16 white color how do we know
that is not 3GS phone that we buy . Is there any sign in iphone show that
3G and 3GS ?

not including the box outside or space inside the phone

Um, look at the iphone label on the back. 3GS is more pronounced.
 
From the outside impossible to really tell, although the text is a little brighter. They should have wrote iPhone 3G S on the back, oh well.

I guess in settings/about you can check the model number again a regular 3G
 
This not really help , is nice if they design logo 3GS back of iphone so people could regconize which one 3g or 3gs
 
The serial codes are different too. It can tell you the date that it was made. If it's after June 8th, it is a 3G S. (Not sure if they put them into production and stopped 16GB 3G production on the eighth or days after.)
 
The logo on the back is pretty clear, also the 3gs has apps the 3g does not have. Home screen will show exactly what model it is with the exclusion or inclusion of these apps.
 
Check the brighter writing on the back, compass app, voice control, and whether or not video is enabled in the camera app.
 
But think about how simple it would be to take 2 different phones with minor differences and put them in the wrong box.
 
I think Macworld pointed out the chrome lettering (same color as the Apple logo) as the main distinguishing factor, as well as an 8GB or 32GB capacity. For 16GB, go with the chrome or check the model number (a harder way).
 
this will help china could make up fake iphone 3gs easily and selling online

they might upgrade firmware 3.0 and say that was 3gs 16 GB sometime
dump people don't check information of iphone and just buy it

The 3G S has the compass and video camera. The 3G do not have those goodies.
