How do you activate your 1yr free AppleTV+ trial?

Hi All,

I picked up the new Apple TV 4k yesterday and I set it up today but not sure how to redeem the free 1yr Apple TV+ subscription. I am currently using a free sub to TV+ from when I purchased my iPhone or something. Do I need to redeem it on the actual AppleTV appliance? Or can I redeem it from my iPhone? Either way, when I open it on my iPhone and go to a show it doesn't offer me an option to redeem my 1yr sub..

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I just set up my '21 AppleTV and had to activate in the AppleTV app. But maybe you can't get the free year if you already have a free subscription?

*Sugar* Have a 12 month that came with my Mac and its runs out next month. Decided to buy a new 4K today to use with my AirPods Max in Spatial Audio. Was going to just buy a used one but decided the extra $s would be worth it to extend my subscription.
