The title basically says my question. How do add a gradient to something I have created with the Paint Brush Tool in Illustrator CS4? Sorry for the n00bish question.

You just torrented Creative Suite, didn't you?

Draw you paintbrush path, go to Object>Path>outline stroke, and then add a gradient to the filled area.
