How do you backup iBook Library before formatting?

I would like to reformat my iMac with 10.9.4. I don't want to lose all my epub and pdf books in the iBook app. How do I back it up and reformat it.

** Please note, the iBook library is the only think I want to backup, the rest of all it I want it all deleted, that is why I want to format.
