How do you buy Apple care plus over the phone?

I did the Applecare Plus over the phone this past weekend. Yes, you need to provide a credit card for the $99 purchase. I would recommend calling from a different phone than your new iPhone. Applecare will send a message to your new phone that runs a diagnostic app to verify nothing is wrong with it. Once the diagnostic app is done you're pretty much finished. Hope this helps.
You call 800-275-2273 and have a credit card and order number/receipt of the phone handy with your new phone there ready to run a diagnostic. Then, you're done and it's registered.

Agent forwarded text on her iPhone 6 that included a diagnostic
While agent remained on call, ran diagnostic (very quick).
Gave credit card number over phone.
Did not take much time at all.

Just did this the other day! Easiest process ever! The only problem was that it took until last night to actually get an email confirmation, I was worried that I gave out my banking info to a scammer.
