How do you change doc icons?

Sorry for beginner question, but i just bought my first mac and i was wondering how do you change your doc to look something like these...

I think you need the app "Candybar" to modify your dock and can download themes that will change all your icons.

oh, candybar isnt free =/. Is there a free way to do this

For applications, you can just select them in the Finder (Applications folder), and select Get Info from the File menu (or hit -I). Click on the icon, and paste the new one there.

Alternatively, for a (really) free option, try LiteIcon. It doesn't do as much as CandyBar, but it is actually free. I'm not sure what's up with the recent burst of posts claiming CandyBar is free, but LiteIcon actually is and will change icons for applications and folders just fine.

For some of the special icons, like the Finder and Trash icons, you'll need more in-depth instructions, so let me know if that's the case.
