With a cable....plugged into the brick.....plugged into the wall.....or sometimes, into my laptop to go crazy.

I usually have mine plugged into the wall socket overnight. The iPhone/charger has a safety mechanism built-in, so it's impossible to overcharge.
 
My choice is not listed there so I can't vote. I have my phone always docked at home when not using it in an Onkyo dock connected to my Onkyo surround sound receiver using a special auxiliary connector on the receiver. It charges my iPhone even when the receiver is in stand by mode as well as let's me play music and video through it.
 
Either via USB or AC plug. TBH I really dont care. I think even 7th or 8th generation iphone will come out way earlier before my current battery dies.
