How do you check the serial # of a Notebook on Apple.com?

I'm selling my current MBP and someone wants the serial # of the computer to check it on Apple's Website. I'm a little leery to give out that information, but I can understand where they are coming from. Can someone give me the website link so I can make sure it doesn't give out any other info than my name? Thanks!
