I used to clean my MBP once a month, since it's in a hardshell case that accumulates plenty of dirt. Needless to say, after 4.5 years i've become a bit lazy with maintenance. I used to clean it with the Apple microfiber cloth with a tiny drop of water, enough to make it humid but not wet. That one got lost in a move, and my vacuum cleaner ate it's replacement a couple months ago.

Long story short, my MBP is gross rn. Tried to look for a cloth pack in Amazon but they all look meh. Also considered buying one of those solutions like iKlear, since it comes with the cloth and all, but saw some reviews complaining it left residues on their Macs. Should i just get the microfiber cloth pack and use plain water? (I've heard distilled water is better, is it true?)

How do you guys keep your MBP clean?

Water is a no-no as electronics don't like that. Get a screen cleaner, something like this: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Duronic-SC...5078089&sr=8-6&keywords=laptop+screen+cleaner

Spray anywhere you want on the aluminium, wipe using the cloth that comes with it. You may need to be a little more gentle on the screen or get a better microfibre cloth for the screen only (the cloth that comes with it can be a bit harsh so it may leave marks), though you can give the keyboard & shell a properly good scrub without cause for concern.

Actually I take mine to an apple store and use their spray. But I bring my own microfibre cloth

I use a microfiber cloth moistened with a small amount of water to clean and dry all surfaces - while powered off. Then a second dry microfiber cloth to dry/polish the screen so there aren't any smudges/streaks.

In the end i found a microfiber cloth around the house, dampened it with water and managed to clean the aluminium pretty well. The screen was a pain though, as it was full of finger smudges. I'll try with a screen cleaner, hopefully that'll do the trick!

Thanks guys!
