my wireless on my mac works just fine (sharing an Ethernet connection through airport). I can connect my ipod and everything. however, when trying connect my laptop pc to said airport network, it says it is encrypted. the card then asks for a WEP key. I don't know why it says its encripted nor how to turn off the encryption. I also don't know how to find the hex key to enter into my wireless card.

what I know:
I need to add 0x to the front of the hex key
it will have to be a 128 bit key. the other keys don't match from mac to linksy card.
the airport utility does nothing. it tries to detect wireless apple devices and fails. it doesn't allow you to click stuff.
my built in wirless card on my laptop dosn't even detect the network (a popup says it detects it but when going to see what networs are there, it says there are none.
it is not in stealth mode

please help. this is getting frustrating now.

PS. please talk in n00b terms. I am still new to macs. when telling me how to find the key, give me the whole path.
