How on earth do you delete just a mail account on iOS? If I go to settings>mail, contacts, calendars I can see my iCloud and gmail accounts listed under "accounts". The only option I see is to delete the whole account, which will remove email but also all the other stuff like contacts and calendar. Is there a way to just get rid of the email part?

Thanks!

Delete the whole account. Re-add it. Disable Mail when adding it again and everything but Email will be there.

Yes, I tried that exactly as you said. However, when I go the mail app all the messages and folders are still there.

Is it Gmail or iCloud you're looking to remove?

Remember, iCloud is in two different places, so ensure you've switched off the 'Mail' toggle in both places.

That doesn't make sense. I recently did that process and before adding the account again I went to Mail.app and everything was wiped out.

If it helps, stop by an Apple store and ask a genius to help you.

Thanks, at this point I think I will go to an Apple store.
