If you own an iPhone 13 or earlier, how can you downgrade from iOS 16 in order to avoid the battery drainage issues until Apple fixes them?

I second Ajay, unfortunately, the signing window for iOS 15 has been closed by apple. Not much can be done about that. Just hope Apple fixed their nasty bugs.

15.7 is still signing.. Download the IPSW , here in forum have links to download 15.7.
Are you sure? My understanding is that only older devices that don't support 16 has support for 15.7. Other devices are not signed.

iOS 15.7 is still signed, but I don’t know whether the IPSW is OTA only, some said it doesn’t show up on iTunes. You can obtain the file, but I don’t know if it will work. Does anyone know? If it works, you should be able to downgrade to iOS 15.7.

Just try with itunes, im not sure what will happen, but if it dosent work, you will able to restore with 16.0.2

After doing some digging, it looks like it should be possible to revert an older phone. This video on youtube is available on the same link that @theapplehead posted but here is the direct for the video;

15.7 is only being signed for the iPhone 7 series and previous. IPSW.me shows you for each model if you click on the device.

IPSW.me for whatever reason is inaccurate this time. I was able to download 15.7 and restore on my iPhone 13 just yesterday and had no issues.

Did you use the procedure in the video? and if so, was your backup that you used to restore from iOS 15?

I ask, because I tried to downgrade my dad's iPhone 8 Plus from 16.0 to 15.7, and all but bricked it. I was able to get it back after setting up as new and restoring from a backup, but that puts me at iOS 16.0.2.

I confirm, suscesfuly updated 12 mini from 14.4.1 to 15.7 with this IPSW. In OTA i only have iOS16 to update nothing else.

I used an old backup from iOS 15 that I had. Unfortunately you cannot restore an iOS 16 backup to iOS 15. But other than that followed the procedure the video showed.

That makes sense as to why I almost bricked that 8 Plus. The backup I had was from 16.0. I need to check if I have a 15.x backup, as long as 15.7 is still being signed.

Ideally, use iCloud backup for downgrade. Anyway, the downgrade windows won’t be long. Apple may close it once 16.1 is released. So be hurry.

You can’t anymore, Apple stopped signing iOS 15.

Apple is still signing betas they've released since WWDC in June as the beta period is still going on (due to iPadOS delay I guess?) Due to this, 15.7 RC (Release Candidate) is still being signed which happens to be the same build as the 15.7 full release. This is the reason you can install 15.7 via a computer on all supported devices. The reason it doesn't show up on ipsw.me is because it's technically a "beta version".
