I just got my iPhone yesterday and I want to download apps using iTunes without the USB cable attached. I want to just be able to click on an app in iTunes then have it automatically download to my phone.

Not possible. Either have to turn on wireless sync and do a sync after downloading through iTunes, or download from the app store on your phone.

Nah I am sure we will have a lengthy discussion about why Android and Windows phone have this capability, but iOS doesn't... :p

This would be the perfect thread to send to Wasteland. Not because of inappropriate posting, not because of trolling, not because there is anything bad about the thread ...yet. But because the thread is, by dint of the answer being provided...finished.

As you say, since the question has been answered for the OP...it can ONLY go bad from here!!;)

:D

If by iTunes you mean iTunes on your PC/Mac then what they say.

However, if by iTunes you means the App Store on your phone, u can certainly download from it directly into your phone.

Why can't I have my iPhone 5 in my pocket, and in iTunes on my Mac download the app directly to my iPhone all over wifi/the cloud WITHOUT have to connect via USB?

You can. Turn on automatic downloads for apps. It's under iTunes & App Stores in iPhone settings. It only works for new apps (ie. not updates or re-downloading a previously purchased app).

Can't do that with the iPhone like you can on Android phones. You can though using automatic downloads for new purchases.
