Hi,

Whenever I've tried opening some files, like PDF files, it would open them in separate app called "Preview", which was really annoying.
So I removed "preview" app, and now it's opening PDF files in "Books" app. 🤦🏻

Are the people at Apple even using iOS?

I’m confused, what do you want it to do when you try to open a PDF file?
On iOS 18 when clicking on any file I would instantly get a preview of the file.
On iOS 26 it would open it in another app called "Preview", it all takes much longer and it's really dumb, because from what I remember the app feels like opening another "Files" app, and it takes ages...

I just want to quickly preview a file.

Btw. is it even possible to get the "Preview" app back on beta?

On beta 4 if you hold and press on a file and then choose open with you can toggle on preview with quick look to get previous behaviour.

Tap and hold pdf in Files to bring up menu
Tap Open With
The last item in the list of apps is actually an option
Tap Preview with Quick Look to set the option (confirm with √)
Single tap of pdf file now opens in Quick Look
