How do you get rid of a parasite?

Hi folks,

I need help getting rid of a parasite, sorry, I don't know the correct technical jargon.

Whenever I do a net search in Safari 5.1.10, i get directed through "search.genieo.com/"

Even though I have google set up as my search engine.

What steps do I need to take?
