I'm at a bit of a loss. On my new iMac, the root user ("other") appeared on my login screen. Don't know how it got there. I tried going into the directory utility to disable the root account but it was already disabled. I then enabled it and disabled it yet the root account still shows on my login screen.

Any ideas? It's like someone hacked into my computer and enabled the root account through a backend or something.

Thanks for the help.

Run this in terminal to remove the Other from the login screen.
Code:
sudo defaults write /Library/Preferences/com.apple.loginwindow SHOWOTHERUSERS_MANAGED FALSE
