having had mine for almost a month now i'm noticing the speaker holes are gathering some small particles of dust and dirt which I can't remove (running my finger over the speaker seems to just push them in deeper!) Also the screen seems to pick up any grime left of the keys of the keyboard with ease.

What methods do you use to clean/keep clean your rMB?

Very gentle use of compressed air (held at a distance) usually does the trick for me!

I'm sure you're looking for some specific tips, but to start with the basics, see Apple's "cleaning your apple product" page.

Just a summary:
  • Use only a soft, lint-free cloth. Avoid abrasive cloths, towels, paper towels, and similar items that might cause damage.
  • Unplug any external power sources, devices, and cables.
  • Keep liquids away from the product.
  • Don't get moisture into any openings.
  • Don't use aerosol sprays, solvents, or abrasives.
  • Don't spray cleaners directly onto the item.

MacBook, MacBook Pro, and MacBook Air

When cleaning the outside of your MacBook, MacBook Pro, or MacBook Air, first shut down your computer and unplug the power adapter. Then use a damp, soft, lint-free cloth to clean the computer's exterior. Avoid getting moisture in any openings. Do not spray liquid directly on the computer. Don't use aerosol sprays, solvents, abrasives, or cleaners containing hydrogen peroxide that might damage the finish.

To clean the screen on your MacBook, MacBook Pro, or MacBook Air, first shut down the computer and unplug the power adapter. Dampen a soft, lint-free cloth with water only, then use it to clean the computer's screen.

The damn speaker holes kill me. Dirt is covering them all up. They are deep in there man

Method for Cleaning

Just to add another, I've been using this method to clean all my tech gear for many years:

Whenever I wash a load of laundry, after it has been spun dry in the washer (not dry, but not dripping), I'll take a soft t shirt or soft hand towel and use it to wipe down the exterior of my iPhone, iPad, MacBooks, cameras, car interiors, you name it.

Be sure to fully power off/shut down your equipment.

I find this method works excellently, especially on trouble areas like lcd screens and keyboards. Doesn't leave behind lint or streaks, and the damp cloth picks up any dirt/grime rather easily.

This method pretty closely follows Apple's recommended guidelines, but grabbing a shirt/rag after the spin cycle of the wash has the perfect amount of moisture in my opinion.

If it were me I'd steer clear of all of those alcohol based screen cleaning wipes!

I'd also recommend compressed air at a distance for the speaker grilles
