I got a reply from a guy who had the same Proximity Sensor issue I have an he said his first iPhone was week 22 and his replaced iPhone was week 26.

How do you know based on the serial number if a replacement iPhone4 is newer or older based on reading the model number?

My current iPhone4 serial number starts with 8602.... how old is this one and how will I know if my replacement I am going to pick up today will be a newer model?

Thanks so much for the help and I hope I'm not starting and already talked about thread many times over, I tried searching fro something but I couldnt find anything.

I did find this in another post on the forum... is this correct?

My serial is 86025... So this tells me that my phone was week 25 correct? of 0 which I assume year for 0 is 10'?

First two are the factory it was manufactured in, second one is last digit in the year and the last two are the week it was manufactured. For example, 87(factory)0(2010)26(26th week of 2010)

Serial Number Broken Down: aabccdddeef
aa = Factory and Machine ID
b = Year
cc = Production Week
ddd = Unique Identifier
ee = Colour
f = size

I SAW THIS ON THE SAME THREAD ... IS THIS TRUE ALSO:

also if your iPhone is refurbished the first 2 numbers will always be 5K

Heading out to pick up my new phone in a few... is all the above info true and is it rue about the refurb. 5K thing?

If that is true, then my 32GB that I received yesterday from ATT was made in week 27.

What seem to be the phones made in what week that have a lot of the issues?

MAINLY the one I issue I have right which is the proximity sensor!
