iPod How do you maintain widescreen aspect ratio on iPod?

Hi I have a lot of shows(CSI for one) that are in widescreen. Now when i convert them with quicktime for my iPod it distorts the image to fullscreen. It is also still distroted when played my widescreen tv. Is there any way to maintain the aspect ratio?

make sure the widescreen setting inside your ipod is set to on.
