How do you make dp 5.13 work with digi 002

I am trying to set up Digital Performer 5.13 with digidesign's Digi 002. I have downloaded the core audio 7.0 driver on digidesign's website. Which I believe is the appropiate one for Mac OS 10.4.9. I have read through all the pdfs. Am I missing something in the manuals or is there some secret?
