I am repurposing an iPhone 6S to use as a work phone, with the main intention to keep a contact list and chat transcripts separate from my personal lists and chats. My workplace doesn’t use MDM software and doesn’t provide phones.

So for myself, I will use the same Apple ID. The only service I will enable for any kind of syncing is the App Store as I would rather not buy apps again. Should that be enough? I don’t plan to check personal stuff on the clock to begin with.

And any other settings tips?

Why not just use something like Google Voice on your main iPhone? Something self contained with contacts, calling and text messaging. Rather than juggling two devices and the extra monthly fees. There'll still be a fee for the Google Voice or similar line but much less.
