Hi. I just got a Mac and wondered how to change the default print setting from color to grayscale. I know how to manually change it each time, but I am wondering if there is a way to make it the default.

I print coupons and some sites have a coupon program that does not allow you to make the Grayscale selections. Instead, when you hit 'Print', it sends the coupon to the printer automatically and the coupon ends up printing out in color (even if the last time something was printed, it was printed in grayscale). It doesn't give me the option to bring up the Print menu at all.

I have read that there is a way to do this by editing a file through CUPS. Not being very tech savvy, I was wondering if someone who has been successful doing this could explain how to do it step-by-step.

I have Mac OSX 10.6.3. I found directions for an older version which seem very easy to understand, but are for an earlier version. (http://www.jamesmuirhead.com/?p=68).

I also found directions for 10.6, but didn't quite understand how to do it.

Also, if there is a way to set the default to preview before ultimately sending it to the printer (besides selecting it every time), please let me know.

Thanks in advance for your help!
