What do plan to put in Apple iPhone magnet wallet? I’m thinking an ID, 2 or 1 $50 bill/note, AmEx, MasterCard.

What do you think of it as a stand alone wallet, meaning not always using it magnetized to your iPhone, perhaps using it alone part of of the time? And maybe having it magnetized on your refrigerator when at home . . . easier to not forget it.

Sounds like you plan to overstuff it and break it.

I really am yet to see the point of this product if I am honest. The cards I use regularly are on Apple Pay anyway, therefore I don’t need to carry them on the iPhone as well? The fact this wallet is an eye watering £59 also makes me choke out loud further on my bewilderment of its existence.

I have my driver's license, one credit card for the places that don't take Apple Pay, and a $20 bill in my MagSafe wallet. All my other cards are either in the Wallet app or the respective card's app. The only time I use it as a stand alone wallet is when I'm going to pay for something and I'll just reach into my pocket and slide it off on my phone.

I'm a minimalist but as much as I've tried I just need more than 3 cards on a daily basis. I need :

  • Driver's license
  • CCW license
  • I need at least 1 credit card for those handful of damned places (or gas pumps etc) that refuse to take apple pay.
  • Corporate card for travel (many hotels don't take apple pay for checkin)
  • Some places I visit (like Dr) needs a physical insurance card (don't need to carry this daily though).
  • I like to take some cash ($2 bills) to use for tips.
The bigger problem for me with the wallet is that I love the magsafe charger to mount and charge my phone in the car. Having to remove the wallet from my phone every time I want to charge defeats the convenience of "wireless" charging for me.

Long story short, I love the idea of the wallet... but it just doesn't have enough capacity and doesn't fit my use case. That MOFT wallet looks a bit more appealing to me to be honest as it adds in the benefit of a kickstand as well.

I have a very slim wallet with a credit card, drivers license and business cards in it, but over the last 10 months I’ve carried it very little. Even when I do go back to carrying that, the clip on MagSafe pouch is insufficient for me. I use Apple Pay on my watch in pretty much every shop I visit, albeit rarely in recent times. Even my boarding passes are loaded on to Apple wallet when I travel around Europe with my job.

Contactless is more ubiquitous in Europe. I'd say here in the US it is about 80% acceptance rate now where I shop. Hotels and gas pumps being the big exception where I nearly always need a physical card.

Boarding passes for most flights work fine, but then I still have to schlep my passport and/or Business visa paperwork for some destinations (like India). For most of my domestic flights now I use biometric identification (CLEAR) which is great as I don't even really need my ID in most places I go domestically... just a digital boarding pass. Other nice thing is Clear gets me to the front of the security line every time as well.

I use the wallet on my phone all the time. I'm going caseless and love it. I only have my drivers license in the Apple wallet and a credit card. Every once in awhile I'll need to add a 3rd card and it works fine. Already tried it.

I carry an ultra slim leather 4-slot wallet (drivers license, credit card, government ID, military ID) in my front pocket and that makes far more sense to me than the Apple Wallet for multiple reasons...

1. I use Apple Pay 95% of the time, the only times I don't use it will be at restaurants, bars, lounges, etc since most of those places still need a physical card or cash (in America at least).

2. I don't like needing to remove the wallet from my phone then push the cards up through the back and grab the card I need. I've seen YouTube videos of people doing it with their iPhone and it just seemed a little cumbersome because cards don't seem to come out very easily or at least not as easy or fast as I can remove a card from my wallet. Plus you can only fit 3 cards in the Apple Wallet and I can fit 4 in my mine plus a $20 bill in middle slot but it's still extremely slim.

3. If you have a MagSafe car mount or any type of magnetic car mount you will need to remove the wallet to use it. That would be a headache eventually doing it on a daily basis for me at least.

4. I never cared about showing off my wallet (this matters to some people I noticed in these forums and in-person) even though it's a Gucci wallet (got it as a birthday gift). Before this gift I used an ultra slim 4-slot wallet from a company called Herschel Supply Company and loved it. It was less than $30 and worked perfectly fine for years.

5. I just don't see the need in having a wallet attached to my phone for cards that I almost never use on a daily basis. Just leaving my wallet in my pocket is more than enough, if I need get something out of my wallet then I'II just grab my wallet but like I said that's extremely rare. Adding the Apple Wallet to my phone just seems like I'm adding more stuff onto an already heavy device for cards I rarely use anyway.

I know some people love the Apple Wallet but in my case it's just something extra to have that isn't important for me and would see extremely little use on a weekly basis. I did see a product by a company called MOFT that's a wallet/stand and it looked interesting because I like the stand function but ultimately decided against it.

Sure would be nice if we could move to a digital drivers license. I am guarded about keeping it in my Apple leather sleeve, in case it were to fall out or get stolen etc. A lot of times I go out without my phone and it would be nice not to have to take a big wallet with me, even though I have my Apple Watch.
And it would be something very to make it impossible to fake. Similarly to how Apple pay generated a unique number that expired every time you use it, a digital license can generate a unique QR code that expires. It’s so easy to implement. That would make it more secure than a physical license.

I'm trying to find a need for one got to be honest...the only time where I think I would need one would be to go to Costco for petrol but really is it worth getting it to use at the petrol station once a month? hard to justify.

I would be getting it just because it's a new apple accessory and being all in on MagSafe lol

if I was to buy another MagSafe accessory it would be the belkin MagSafe car mount...don't see a need currently as I'm at home all the time

I have a coworker that's the same way haha!

But even he said if he bought it then it would be a waste because he knows he would never use it. Plus he changes cases often and without having all MagSafe compatible cases then it's a no-go from the start.

I can't wait to see what other MagSafe accessories Apple and 3rd-Party companies release in 2021, should be interesting.

Saddle brown on iPhone Mini 12 white 256gb. I have decided the wallet feels great in the hand, and adds needed grip. It cradles the hand perfectly. Also serves as a nice phone coaster when on the table. The patina is going to be awesome- I can tell by how it feels in the hand. Also easy to remove to feel the naked iPhone. It was definitely made for the Mini.

Oh ya... it also holds a few cards.
