I apologize if this has been covered before, I was unable to locate anything in the search function.

Oh Ekhs Tenh

or

Oh Ekhs Ess

& please... WHY?????

I've heard serious Mac geeks correct me when I referred to it as 10 "It's an X, not a 10."

I've heard Jobs refer to it as 10. Coming after OS9 that does make sense...

but it IS the letter X.

Thank you for your responses.

The letter X is also the Roman Numeral for 10. I personally call it OS eX, but I suppose officially it is called OS Ten, seeing as that is what Steve calls it.

Ultimately, who cares, because it really doesn't matter. Either way people will know what you're talking about.

Anyone who says "OS ecks" and calls himself a serious Mac geek is lying or dumb. *takes cover*

There is really no room for discussion here, it is "OS ten" plain and simple.

As long as you don't follow it with "sucks compares to Windows", I don't think anyone round here cares. For the record though, I normally call it by it's cat name. Tiger or Jaguar just sound better, and OSX (Ten) sounds too similar to OS/2 for my liking :)

Of course, you could always call is Oh Sex if you're feeling fruity :D

I usually call it O S eX, just cause I prefer it to OS 10. That's all. But yeah, as someone else stated above, I even more usually refer to it as Tiger or Panther or whatever.
- Even Lisa?
- Especially Lisa! BUt especially Bart!

I say Oh Es Ex, just because it's easier to say. :)

It had never occurred to me that there was a right and a wrong way. I obviously haven't watched enough Keynotes. Actually, I've never watched a Keynote.

That's kind of sad :( youre missing out

I have kind of followed them on MR and seen what's announced, and I enjoy that, but they always stream really badly over the web, and I'm impatient. And then when I do manage to see bits, it's always ... just a bloke talking. And doesn't seem that interesting. Now you can burn the witch. :p

I always say OS ex. I know the pedantics out there say OS 10 but numbers are soooo last millenium, don't you think? I see OS X as being completely different from OS 9 and its predecessors, to me its not the tenth version of the OS, its a different OS in its own right, of which Tiger is the tenth version.

To me it'll always be OS (e)X although I'm willing to put up with people saying OS 10 for nostalgia's sake. :p /ducks

:D That cracked me up.

I'd be impressed at water into wine though, purely for practical purposes. ;)
