I currently have 2 phone numbers attached to my iCloud account. One was a temporary phone number for use while my number ported between carriers. Is there a way from my phone to remove the temporary number so that I receive texts and iMessages at the same number?

Do you mean iMessage ?
Check settings - iMessage and see if the temp number is listed, if so, delete it.

For some of these number alterations, you must log in to your iCloud/Apple account online from a computer and make the changes. I had to do this 2 weeks ago when a family member accidentally changed my number while registering a new MacBook Air.
