Hello. I have a lot of DVDs and would like to put them all onto my new iMac so I can watch then without the hassle of inserting a DVD. I would also like to put some of these DVDs onto my iPod so I can watch them on the go.

I have no idea how to rip DVDs. A Mac program would be best but I suppose I could rip the DVDs onto my PC and then transfer them onto my iMac but that would be a bit of a hassle.

I have heard of Handbrake. Is this all you need to rip DVDs? How long does it take? Is the quality DVD quality? And most importantly, is it free?

I know this a bit of a nooby question but I'm new to all of this. :)

Definitely use Handbrake to rip you're DVD's

I would also recommend using a program called iSquint. It will compress your movies to a smaller size, so they don't take up as much space, and they will look better on the iPod screen

Both programs are on versiontracker.com

And yes, they're both free
