Sorry, I haven't had an iPhone since the 2g, and there used to be a clock. Now..?
I have looked in the settings but I can't find anything.

Just click on the plus sign in the top-right corner and enter relevant info on next screen.

With iOS4 they moved the clock into the "Utilities" folder on your home screen. Look in there. Hopefully you know how to set the alarm after that.
 
Well now I feel worse, I have been in the utilities folder many times now, but to add things, guess I never noticed...

for the record, when i went to the apple store to look at the iphone, i could not for the life of me figure out how to set an alarm. on most phones the alarm feature would be in settings on not a feature in a useless app such as...clock...
