Hello all!

Almost everyone in my family owns an iPod, either iPod Nano or iPod 5G. I only have a Creative ZeN NanoPlus 1GB. I have been using it since one year.

Anyways, I am going to buy the new iPod Nano (Black One, 8GB) and I was wondering how do you people sort the songs in your iPods?

Do you sort it like:
Artist - Song Name
Song Name - Artist
Song Name (only)

What would be a good way to sort the music?

Thank you!

Edit: Oh yeah! I listen to almost every type of music, except for ROCK, METAL, and EMO TYPE. I don't know what I mean by EMO TYPE =\
Can you suggest me few must-get songs to download? Recently, on my desktop computer, I've listened to Timbaland - Way I Are, Enrique Iglesias - Maybe, Enrique Iglesias - Ring My Bells, Tenth Planet - Walk on Water (Original Mix), McKnight Brian - Back At One.

Itunes sorts it into those categories by it self. After that I like making playlists according to different genres and usually I split them into the latest songs I've put in because usually I like playing the new songs.

I've only recently begun to use the 'smart playlist' features. It will build 'live' playlists for you, based on criteria you select. for example:

- All songs whose genre contains 'rock'
- All songs with a 2-star rating or above
- Random songs but no more than 6GB worth
- Any song by the artist "Dire Straits" but shorter than 6 minutes in length
- All songs in the 'jazz' genre except those that are unchecked.

There are lots of ways to handle it.

On either iPhone or iPad, it sorts songs based on the Track number (#) for each Album. If you have songs with blank Track number under Track # menu item in iTunes, it will automatically give Track numbers and sort it accordingly on iPhone.

In iTunes, if the column is not shown, right click on the column name bar and select Track Number from the list.

On Windows PCs, folders which have your songs will show a column name '#' for Track Number.

One easy way to sort all the Songs in each Album is by making the Track # blank in each song. In iTunes, select all the songs for Album -> Right Click -> Select Get Info - > Select Info tab.
Type 0 on the two boxes underneath Track Number[0 of 0]. After you click ok, none of songs should have any number under Track # column.
Sync with iPhone/iPad. Now it will sort all the songs in that Album by Song Name in Ascending order.
Likewise you can do so on Windows PC folder. Select Album songs -> Right click - > Click Properties ->Click Details tab -> Type 0 on # item -> Click Ok
