How do you take a screen shot?

I am a wedding photographer and just saw one of my pictures on the Knot being used by another photographer. I want to get a screen shot of it

command + shift + 3 takes a screenshot

Command + Shift + 4 allows you to select an area of the screen

Command + Shift + 4 then SPACE allows you to take a shot of a window

Shift-Cmd-3: Captures the entire screen to a file
Shift-Cmd-4: Allows you to designate a window to capture

Add "Control" to either and it will copy the image to the clipboard vs. to the screen.
