How do you turn off keyboard backlight in Vista?

i wish i knew .. so i deleted my partition and wanted to reinstall XP, but 1.3 wouldnt partition my drive. so now i am in stuck in VMWare until leopard, most likely.
Turn off keyboard backlight in Vista and 7!

3rd-party app, `Power Plan Assistant` lets you disable automatic adjustment of keyboard lights, or disable the keyboard backlight completely!
