How does applecare PLUS work?

Like say i buy a phone and get it, if i damage my phone and pay the $50 and obviously get a new phone. How do they keep tracking since the serial and IMEI will be different on a new phone?

Apple takes care of transferring your new imei for your new phone and will transfer everything over. Your carrier website should update automatically too. If you think you may have a problem just call them and ask.
