My son has a base model 2011 13" MBP, and he's still running the OS X that came on it.

I'm telling him how nice El Capitan is, but I'm wondering if his MBP can run El Capitan without issues.

Any of you guys running El Capitan on a base model 2011 13" MBP?

Thank you

EDIT: My son's MBP is a 2011

Thousands of people are running El Capitan on even older hardware. Go for it. My 2008 can handle it.

It's running fine on my 2010 15" MBP. I did a clean install, however.

It's running fine after getting it downloaded around an hour and it taking 45 minuets with a black screen after installing and logging in and waiting for it to do something.
Then it took four (4) reboots till it was usable, but now it works as well as all other Apple OS have worked.
I just have to remember it's an Apple OS not a Windows OS,so it's never going to be very useful to me.
