hi:
Im in Leopard 10.5 above, and each time I logon to LAN ,in Finder's "SHARED" section, there are always a list of shared Windows PCs of which I can access the shared files. Im now writing an application tightly bound with SMB protocol ,and just wanna figure out how Finder can discovery such shared computers so quickly ? Forgive me that Im having very limited knowledge about Windows OS, so Im not sure if Windows supports such automatic discovery natively by some kind of protocol...
After a bunch of tests, I think Finder doesn't use Bonjour to locate SMB devices, because even I disable Bonjour service or just no Bonjour at all, Finder still discoveries the PC rapidly. What else can Finder use to achieve this ? Should be network scanning ? I will appreciate your suggests or helps ,thanks
